Padel Australia, the organization that oversees and manages padel in the country, has launched the Padel Investment Program in collaboration with its partner Mindspring Padel to facilitate the integration of padel courts within existing sports clubs. The program introduces an alternative approach to traditional infrastructure investments. The initial capital required for the construction of the courts and related foundation works is provided directly through the Investment Program: this means that member clubs do not have to bear the initial investment or resort to borrowing to cover infrastructure costs.
According to official program documents, the average cost of a padel court in Australia currently stands at around 80,000 Australian dollars (AUD). In exchange, a revenue-sharing model based on court reservations is established and customized according to the size and operational conditions of each facility. The goal is to enable clubs to benefit from increased participation and court utilization rates, reducing the financial barriers traditionally associated with the introduction of new padel infrastructure. The initiative leverages the growing presence of padel in the Australian sports ecosystem. Padel Australia reports that over the past three years, the number of courts has seen an annual growth of over 40%, while the average occupancy during peak hours exceeds 85%.
The organization also notes over 30,000 amateur players nationwide in the last two years. These indicators are prompting existing sports clubs to consider padel as a strategic lever to diversify revenues, increase facility usage, and attract new demographic segments, including adult amateur players, youth users, and practitioners from other racket sports. Padel Australia and Mindspring Padel provide support throughout all project evaluation and development phases, including feasibility studies, demand analysis, usage forecasts, financial modeling, and management of relationships with local councils and landowners.
One of the most significant aspects of the initiative is the focus on existing sports infrastructure. Rather than relying solely on the development of new dedicated centers, the program aims to integrate padel into established sports contexts.
